IDOC Releases from Henderson Sentences

No state prison is located in Henderson County. A person sentenced in the Henderson County Circuit Court enters the statewide IDOC system only after delivery to state custody. The move from a county jail to IDOC is a transfer, not a community release. Search the state profile after the jail or court record shows prison commitment.

The sentencing-county field connects a prison sentence to Henderson County. It does not prove that the person lived in Henderson or was confined there. Once IDOC accepts custody, the county roster and receiving-jail records no longer provide the best current state-prison status.

How to Search IDOC Releases

Open the official IDOC Individual in Custody Search. Search by last name, IDOC number, or birth date. IDOC requires at least the first letter of the last name when using a name search, and exact identifiers reduce false matches. Compare the profile carefully before relying on it.

1. Confirm the Henderson court imposed an IDOC sentence.
2. Search by IDOC number when it is known.
3. Check sentencing county, institution or location, custody status, and sentence entries.
4. Read projected parole and projected discharge as separate fields.
5. Use IDOC FOIA for a precise historical record.

A currently confined profile is not a released-person record. A profile marked parole or mandatory supervised release reflects release from prison into supervision, while a discharged sentence indicates the IDOC obligation has ended.

IDOC Release Date Labels

Projected Parole Date anticipates a possible transition from prison custody under the applicable sentence and supervision rules. Parole Date may appear after that transition occurs. Projected Discharge Date anticipates the end of the full IDOC sentence or supervision relationship. These fields are not synonyms.

The profile also uses Offender Status, Location, and SENTENCE DISCHARGED?. Read them together. A future projected date can move because of pre-sentence custody credit, concurrent or consecutive terms, program credit, disciplinary loss or restoration of credit, court action, or recalculation. Parole Is Not Discharge

Illinois often uses mandatory supervised release, or MSR, for the period after prison when a person remains under IDOC supervision. A person on MSR lives in the community but has not necessarily completed the sentence. IDOC Parole Division supervises the person, while the Illinois Prisoner Review Board sets or reviews conditions and handles matters within its authority.

Probation is different. It is a court sentence administered through court services and may occur without a prison stay. Henderson probation is reached through the Ninth Judicial Circuit, not through the IDOC prison locator. See Parole / Probation for the correct agency paths.

IDOC Release Records Contact

IDOC states a five-working-day response period for a standard FOIA request, subject to a notified extension. The first fifty ordinary black-and-white pages are free, with later pages generally charged at fifteen cents each. Ask for a defined date range and specific custody, release, parole, or discharge fields. Exempt personal, medical, or security information may be redacted.

Credits Change IDOC Projections

Illinois law does not apply one simple “good time” formula to every prison sentence. Statutory structures may require service of fifty, seventy-five, eighty-five, or one hundred percent depending on the offense, sentence date, and governing statute. Program and discretionary credits operate separately, while some older rules apply only to older sentences.

The public profile is the better current snapshot; the court judgment and IDOC calculation record explain the basis. Never convert a projected parole date into a promised pickup time. Before making plans, confirm current custody with IDOC and distinguish a projected date from an actual release entry.

After an Illinois Prison Release

A person may leave prison for MSR, another warrant, federal custody, or another lawful destination. “Released” from the institution therefore does not always mean free of all custody. Check the profile location and status, then use the named receiving system when a transfer appears.

Fields on an IDOC Release Profile

An IDOC profile can carry identity and sentence data. Not every record displays every field, so missing data must remain missing. A number match is safer than choosing the first similar name.

Read all sentence blocks because an older sentence can be discharged while a later one remains active.

Henderson County Commitment to IDOC

A Henderson judge's prison sentence does not itself mark the moment IDOC custody begins. The jail must deliver the person under commitment paperwork. That departure is a transfer. IDOC admission and location data then become the better source.

Match the Henderson case number or mittimus when available. Sentencing county connects the statewide profile to the local judgment without implying that a prison is in Oquawka.

IDOC Search and Written Confirmation

IDOC warns that public information can change quickly and recommends written confirmation before assuming a result is complete. Use the search as a current indicator, then request a defined record when exact custody, parole, release, or discharge matters.

Where an IDOC Release Can Lead

Release from an institution may lead to mandatory supervised release, another warrant, federal custody, or another lawful destination. A parole district location and PAROLE status indicate community supervision, not final discharge.

When a receiving authority is named, follow that system. BOP covers sentenced federal prisoners, ICE covers civil immigration detention, and a county sheriff covers its own custody. No one locator proves the absence of every hold.

Preserve the exact IDOC field labels when documenting the transition. “Projected Parole Date” is an estimate made before the event. “Parole Date” records the prison-to-supervision transition when posted. “Projected Discharge Date” can remain in the future while the person lives in the community, and “Sentence Discharged?” addresses final completion. Combining those values into one generic release date loses the distinction between leaving an institution and ending the sentence.

A Henderson County court order remains important when the state profile appears inconsistent with the sentence. Obtain the judgment, mittimus, and jail-credit certification from the Circuit Clerk, then ask IDOC to explain its current calculation. Corrected orders, verified time in county custody, new sentences, discipline, or credit decisions can change the projection. Save the date on which the public profile was checked so a later correction is not mistaken for an unexplained release.
